Campus Capital

Campus Capital is the first on-campus venture capital fund in UK.

Unlike traditional VC firms, Campus Capital is part run by students.

I was involved in sourcing deals and conducting due dilligence on high growth startups in various sectors to invest seed funding of up to GBP200,000.

The part that I enjoyed most out of this role as a Student VC would be during the [1-2-1 VC Office Hours] that I used to organised to source deals and bring up the entrepreneurial landscape in Lancashire. I enjoy the conversations I had with various founders from Lancashire or student-founders from all over world, where they speak to us for ideas on strategies and feedback on their business model, along with advice on funding.

I also enjoyed giving presentations introducing venture capital to university students, especially during a time when everyone is so focused on investment banking and asset management, venture capital/private equity seems to be quite new to even Finance students!

I was invited as a panelist to the monthly Pitch500 event organised by the university, where we decide to give grants up to GBP500. And for those who failed, we will provide insightful advice to improve their position and try again for the grant on the following month. With these initiative, we manage to see many founders go on to build their business and it really makes my day to see them progress!
